Enhancing Customer Service and Asset Protection: Council Teams Up with Safetell

When Portsmouth City Council decided to renovate their Civic Service offices, they sought the help of Safetell to upgrade their cash, revenue, and benefits offices. The council’s main objective was to provide a more comfortable work environment for employees and create a customer-focused cash office that was open and welcoming. Safetell was given the brief to develop a new cash office that would meet the changing needs of the revenue and benefits team and provide better accessibility and asset protection.

Challenge

The main challenge faced by the Safetell team was to design a new cash office that would meet the changing needs of the revenue and benefits team while taking into account the existing cash vault and the structural limitations of the Guildhall Square building. The council was also keen to ensure employees had a more comfortable workstation and create an open and welcoming customer-focused cash office.

Solution

The Safetell team rose to the challenge and installed a new ballistic-resistant four-bay screen and counter, including a single bay that was compliant with DDA height level requirements. The team also installed electronic speech systems, transfer trays, cashier draws and tills, as well as a ballistic-resistant CityWall modular walling system to secure the vault area. A ballistic-resistant Staffline door was also installed to create an airlock system, which could be accessed using staff swipe cards and a visitor video intercom.

Outcome

The Safetell team was able to complete the installation in just ten days, creating a new cash office that met the council’s changing needs and provided better accessibility and asset protection.
